Taipei, R U Coffee?

Yes! Taipei is SO coffee.

But seriously, the coffee shop opposite our apartment is called R U Coffee and it is absolutely adorable!

Lovely art work on the walls, a hushed atmosphere that is perfect for relaxing in, and the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had.

Costa Rican Canet Estate Bach, which had the most mouth watering tastes of cinnamon and honey! Smooth and full bodied coffee, perfectly brewed via V60 👌🏻

Cute decor around the place, especially up at this window bar!

Delightful place and wonderful people working there – possibly the owners?

Taipei, take me to Milkglider!

After following this amazing coffee house for over a year on Instagram I think it’s safe to say I’ve been desperate to visit!

These guys are incredible baristas! They are judges, latte art champs, winners of various other coffee awards and all-round cool dudes.

Milkglider is a lovely, spacious cafe in the heart of Taipei city serving a selection of coffees, cold brew, teas and insanely good cakes!

They also have barista goodies such as tampers, jugs and tshirts on sale.

I’ll be heading back later for a more in depth review but after 30 hours of flying and not sleeping, I just wanted some decent coffee.

South Coast Roast

So here we go… my first review post.

South Coast Roast is found on the round that leads from the very centre of Bournemouth town, seconds away from Natwest and New Look. You can’t miss their anchor-based logo on the window and the chances are there’ll be an awesome A-board outside designed by the very talented Louise, one of the baristas who has a real talent for artwork.

The cafe is full of coffee merchandise, cacti and posters of local events and the smell of yummy treats fill the entire place!

They have a collection of blends – decaf, drip, and guest – and coffee can be served in 4, 6 and 10oz. There are regular soft drinks and tea also available and a menu of breads, salads, soups and more.

The staff are all lovely and provide great service! The music is pretty decent and they host a selection of events from DJs, food tastings, and more…

London Coffee Festival

What better way to start my coffee blog with a little review of the second day of London Coffee Festival?! I was fortunate enough to be invited by my friend, which meant I only had to scrounge enough money from my piggy bank for the train fare. Long story short, I’m pretty broke and didn’t think I’d be able to go.

It was an early start, a busy train ride and then I got lost coming out of Aldgate East – walked in every direction for a good 20 minutes before finally meeting Barista Buddy, Marco, on Brick Lane.

We started the day by collecting our tote bags of goodies, and rummaging through them whilst sipping Espresso Martinis on the makeshift grass, scanning the stalls and deciding where to go first.

From the DripApp stand full of stickers and a prize gumball machine (Where I won a tshirt!) to the amazingly delicious Moju juices, whose marketing was spot on and staff were lovely.

I managed to see some friends from Coffee Mongers Roastery, based in Lymington, and tried another two of their blends. They are some seriously talented people, and really friendly! Illy coffee was as expected, totally fantastic! And I loved their beautifully designed cups. I met some extremely interesting, talented and awesome people who introduced me to new blends, companies and options.

My favourite blend from the day was definitely the UCC Grand Crü, which was full of fruitiness and hints of chocolate and I met one of their lovely baristas called Rebecca. I was super excited to meet Giacomo Vannelli, Italian Barista Champion 2014 and 2015 AND see Dhan Tamang in action, showing off his unreal latte art skills.

I came away with a bag full of stickers, flyers, business cards, a keepcup, a tshirt and a tote bag! Plus new friends and a tonne of information about my favourite hobby.
