Taipei, R U Coffee?

Yes! Taipei is SO coffee.

But seriously, the coffee shop opposite our apartment is called R U Coffee and it is absolutely adorable!

Lovely art work on the walls, a hushed atmosphere that is perfect for relaxing in, and the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had.

Costa Rican Canet Estate Bach, which had the most mouth watering tastes of cinnamon and honey! Smooth and full bodied coffee, perfectly brewed via V60 👌🏻

Cute decor around the place, especially up at this window bar!

Delightful place and wonderful people working there – possibly the owners?

Taipei, take me to Milkglider!

After following this amazing coffee house for over a year on Instagram I think it’s safe to say I’ve been desperate to visit!

These guys are incredible baristas! They are judges, latte art champs, winners of various other coffee awards and all-round cool dudes.

Milkglider is a lovely, spacious cafe in the heart of Taipei city serving a selection of coffees, cold brew, teas and insanely good cakes!

They also have barista goodies such as tampers, jugs and tshirts on sale.

I’ll be heading back later for a more in depth review but after 30 hours of flying and not sleeping, I just wanted some decent coffee.

Tshirt: NT$800 (£20)

In less than 48 hours I will be on the plane to Taipei, with far too many clothes and a handful of notebooks waiting to be filled up with details on endless coffee trips…

I have over 30 cafes on my to-visit list and I’m beyond excited, so over the following 18 days you can expect photos, reviews, and more.

Get in touch if you’re in town and would like to meet somewhere for a coffee (or tea!), I’m always up for making new friends and would love to explore Taipei with other people.

In the mean time, here’s my most recent latte art success.

Little Red Roaster

Squashed onto a small road of Estate Agents, eateries and something else I can’t remember, Little Red Roaster can be found just a minutes walk from Parkstone train station.

Since the refurb at the start of the new year, bright oranges and pinks line the walls and funky patterns and floral designs coat the chairs and tables. There are books, CDs and coffee merchandise available to buy and the shop has a real community feel.

Most importantly, the coffee. It is fantastic! It’s brewed by Red Roaster themselves and carefully paired with the most appropriate brewing methods, so you’re getting the best out of what you’re drinking!

The baristas are extremely knowledgeable and really friendly, especially James – his enthusiasm for all things coffee really shines through and makes me want to question him constantly!

clever dripper with chocolate and lime coffee – Peru Tunki

It’s also a great place for lunch, as they serve homemade quiches, pies, salads and bagels of all kinds. There are jars of sweet treats that line the counter top for those who want small bites and let me tell you, they are fantastic!

General opening hours are 9-5 and card payments are accepted. Free Wi-Fi is also available. For more information you can find them on Facebook, or via their website here.

South Coast Roast

So here we go… my first review post.

South Coast Roast is found on the round that leads from the very centre of Bournemouth town, seconds away from Natwest and New Look. You can’t miss their anchor-based logo on the window and the chances are there’ll be an awesome A-board outside designed by the very talented Louise, one of the baristas who has a real talent for artwork.

The cafe is full of coffee merchandise, cacti and posters of local events and the smell of yummy treats fill the entire place!

They have a collection of blends – decaf, drip, and guest – and coffee can be served in 4, 6 and 10oz. There are regular soft drinks and tea also available and a menu of breads, salads, soups and more.

The staff are all lovely and provide great service! The music is pretty decent and they host a selection of events from DJs, food tastings, and more…
